Any more than 4 inches total movement in height/reach difference and you are going to be the parts guy's best friend. I test fit a set of 16s when I was still on the Gulf coast, and the same is applicable to lower "high bar" styles.
You will need: Throttle cable, clutch cable, extended wiring harnesses, underslung mirrors, softer/stickier grips, and stock in a fuse maker company (extended harnesses are notorious for shorting out, too much play in the wires if you use crimp connectors instead of solder).
It really isn't worth exceeding the 4 inch over stock range unless your arms are just too long for the stock set-up.
